ELDER MELVIN CHEEKS

CONNECTION PASTOR

Elder Melvin K. Cheeks was born November 5, 1966 in Terre Haute, IN to Elder E.R. and Mother Virginia R. Cheeks, founder and pastors of Miracle Temple C.O.G.I.C.  He is the 7th of 8 children of that union.

Elder Cheeks was educated in Vigo County Public Schools and graduated from North Vigo High School in 1975.  It was during those high school years that he met his future and current wife, Clarice M. Tyler, and on December 17, 1977 they were joined in marriage.

Those early years of adulthood were both exciting and challenging as the two embarked on life’s journey together, but what couldn’t be avoided was the call to a higher life.  The prayers and the scriptures that he had been raised with began to manifest themselves in a very clear way.  He was now growing older and it became harder and harder to depart from the way he should go.  So in March 1980 on a Tuesday night, he walked into the little church he and been raised in, sat in that chair at the altar, and began to call upon the Name of the Lord.  Oh what joy filled his soul!

With a willingness to work, Elder Cheeks worked in every conceivable aspect of the ministry from transportation to trash collector, and from usher to groundskeeper.   In all of that, however, there was always a love of the Word, and in February 1981, he accepted the call into the ministry.

Elder Cheeks has served in many capacities during his years in ministry including Assistant Pastor of Miracle Temple C.O.G.I.C., Elder at Spirit of Love Center in Louisville, KY, Pastor of Light of the World Church in Jeffersonville, IN, and board member at Dominion Fellowship in Chesapeake, VA.

Since 2010, Elder Cheeks has served in the Associate Pastorate of Kingdom Fellowship Christian Life Center.  He also teaches in the Kingdom Ministerial Alliance and has taught and led both Men’s Ministry and Marriage Ministry.

Elder Cheeks is an ordained minister, and currently serves as Connection Pastor of Kingdom Fellowship Christian Life Center under the anointed leadership of Senior Pastor Timothy E. Findley, Jr.  He and Sis. Cheeks are the proud parents of three daughters, Autumn (Titus) Phillips, and Jennifer and Ashley Cheeks.  They are also the proud grandparents of three beautiful grandchildren, Chase, Mikaela, and Jordon.
